Where can people buy your cutting files and designs:
my website, www.paperthreads.com , www.dianasdesignsonline.com and I also have a blog http://www.dianasdesignsonline.blogspot.com/ I try to update it at least once a week, and I offer free files there occasionally. I’m also on twitter as Diana’s Designs.
Quick Bio of Diana:
I’m very happily married to my best friend and hero for 29 years. I have 3 children ages 24, 21 and 19, two of whom still live at home, and am waiting for my 24yo to move back (joke) seems they always come back after they move out. I also have a 18mo grandson who is very precious to me. I’m fortunate to be able to stay home with my family, When someone asks what I do, I reply “I’m a kept woman” My husband loves that reply. I work on my scrapbooks and files, have lunch with my friends, volunteer at a Senior Citizens Center, help with my husbands BSA troop and send Cards I’ve collected or made to the Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
1. How did you get started cutting and then designing files?
I started with a Wishblade and found I loved designing the files and working on the computer, a couple of friends suggested I sell files on-line, I was one of the first selling files on-line, I started with GSD (wishblade) files, added WPC (pazzles) files then onto KNK and AI files, now I’m learning how to convert files for Cricut users.
2. What kind of projects do you like to work on?
My first love is scrapbooking, I started that when my kids were around 10 and now I have a grandson to scrapbook, it never gets old. I do make cards too, started helping my friend make cards to send to soldiers so they have something nice to send back home, now I sell my handmade cards also. I don’t think I’ll ever get into digital scrapbooking, I like touching, smelling and fondling my pages
3. What was your first machine?
4. What machines do you have now?
I have the Yellow Klic-n-Kut 12″
5. If you could only have ONE cutter- what would it be?
I would love to have the Klic-n-kut MAX
6. If someone new to cutting was looking at buying their first digital cutter what entry level digital cutter what would you recommend and why?
Depends on how computer savvy and what size they want, if they are computer savvy, then I’d say a 12″ klick n kut, because I think it is the best machine out there, if they don’t like computers or can’t use them well, then I’d say a Cricut and they can just buy cartridges as they need them. Actually I think anyone can use the Klic-n-kut if they buy the files from the tons of talented designers that are available, they don’t have to design their own files.
7. What software do you use to design and cut?
Mainly I use Klic-n-Kut software, but I use illustrator also.
8. What project are you working on right now?
I just finished my Smoky Mountain Vacation Album
9. Do you have a favourite file or design? Why?
Usually the one I’m working on at the moment is my favorite.
10. What are your three favourite scrapbooking/papercrafting tools? (Aside from your cutter 🙂 )
I have a huge ATG gun for my glue, it’s awesome, when you stick it down it’s stuck!
I have a book of all the sketches from Pagemaps that I’ve printed and use when I power plan my pages. Especially when I run out of ideas.
Ink, I love using it to define my cuts, most of the time I go around the whole page, of course brown is my favorite color, but I do use colors that match my layout also.
Comments From Diana:
I’m giving away a few free files today, a pair of ballet shoes you can paper piece, a title “Dance” a overlay and 3 silhouetted ballerina’s, I don’t have any ballet pictures, nor any ideas for a layout, so I’ll ask for your help, and of course you get something too. Anyone who submits a scrapbook page using these elements (at least most of them) gets a free ballerina border, whoever’s page I like the best and I use for my finished design will receive the rest of the files I’ve made, 2 more borders, 3 more ballerinas, the words Pirouette, Ballet and Recital, I hope I get a lot of entries, please e-mail to me.
