I have been having ongoing problems with my web hosting this year. My one server was down a mind boggling 4 days and I was beyond frustrated. I had set aside some time that week do do some major overhauling of my blogs- update it to more recent version of Wordpress, add some more graphics and I had really wanted to try out a new theme. I was stunned when the site was down.. them still down the next day. I made about six phone calls to my web hosting company and was just told that the problem was being looked at, Just writing about it now gets me fuming.
I did switch over one of my sites to Dreamhost but it is EXPENSIVE. If i recall it is about 3 or 4 times the price of what I usually pay. I did check out a web host review site, Web Hosting Geeks and they had a decent, comprehensive list of recommended web hosting providers as well as some reviews- both good and bad.
The think I have found most important when choosing a host has been -aside form price- reliability and an easy to use control panel. Most cheaper plan will use cpanel and that it great fi you know what you are doing. My preference has been to use a user-friendly interface which most of the biog names provide.
