I set out this “card making challenge” for myself to get rid of some stuff and have some cards at hand when I needed them quick. My daughter ( 10 years) and I and fun with this We could only use stuff we all ready had and could not buy ANYTHING.
It seems with very card or scrapbook project I have ever done I needed something so this was tough- trying to restrain myself was harder than I thought! Luckily I had a pad of Basic Grey
First I cut up some card stock in colours I don’t use or that I have alot of. I made 51/2 x 11 inch cuts and folded to make a 5 1/2 inch square card. I used the leftover strips of card stock in the card making.

Easy Card #1: All Purpose Best Wishes Card With Basic Grey Paper Scraps
“Best Wishes” is a good card to have on hand- can be used for Birthday, Wedding or Congratulations of all kinds. I use this stamp much more than I thought I would. The card was fairly easy.
Used scarp pieces of Basic Grey( from Sultry pack) and layered Quickutzflower die cut with Cuttlebug. Used pink dimensional pearls to adhere rhinestone in centre of flower. I ended up using clear Stickle ( glitter glue) on some of the flowers in printed paper of card. I used craft knife to cut flower edge flush with card.
Card #2: Make a Birthday Card from Scrap Paper
A good birthday card to make for any age or for man or woman.
I really like the way this card turned out ( except for crooked brads!). Used turquoise card stock. Stamp birthday cake slice on scrap paper ( you can use birthday- ish stamped image) . I coloured stamp using Magic Coloring Pencil method ( pencil crayons and gamsol technique).
Used Creative Memories Circle punch to cut stamped image and a co-ordinating color mat. Used old border sticker from Creative Memories on bottom and dollar store ribbon on top. Used 3 brown brads that did not work out very well 🙂
.I used Xyron Sticker Maker for ribbon and tape runner for everything else.
Easy To Make Card #3 : Fast and Easy Birthday Card
My daughter really liked the card I made above she she did her own for a 12 year olds birthday party that weekend. She used up scraps and same odorless mineral spirits and pencil crayon method to color stamped image. She did background using paper that went through Cuttlebug with embossing folder. Here you can see why the Cuttlebug is so great! The results are just great and so easy. She made this card pretty quickly and was snap to do.
Cards From Scrapbook Scraps #4 : Make a Sympathy Card with Flower Stamps and Embossing Powder
This does not photograph well at all. I used some Inque Boutique stamps on dark navy cardstock and white embossing powder. I really need a sympathy stamp or some rub ons . I love light embossing done on dark paper, it gives a great look every time- if you are careful not to let card get sticky with finger oils, etc and get excess embossing powder on the card stock.
If you don’t have heat gun or don’t want to emboss you could also use white ink. This card is screaming for ribbon- which I think I will add.
Everyday Sentiments Card #5 :Sympathy Card with Flower Soft
This really doesn’t belong here as the card idea made using Flower Soft– not something most scrapbookers would have on hand. It also takes bit of time. I love this product by the way. I have not seen it too many places. The card is very pretty.
I used Flower Soft wire ( you could also just use thin wire with white floral tape) and urn to make flowers and some scrap green paper to add grass to the urn for extra depth. A sticker of gold ” With Sympathy” was added for sentiment. I used Creative Memories oval to cut oval shape window. I wish I ihad Spellbinders Nestabilities Ovals (Green/ Yellow) to use for this!. ARGH. If you don’t have Flower Soft any kind of neutral floral image would be fine. You could also emboss a stamped image or use stickers, etc.
Fast and easy Card # 6 : Super Easy and All Purpose Card To Make with Scrapbook Scraps
Very easy to do. This make a good congratulations/graduation card to make at last minute or have on hand using up some scrap pieces.
I used Inque Boutique See D’s to stamp flower and scroll. The flower was stamped on another piece of paper and cut out. I affixed with Glue Dots over black scroll stamped image. Pretty much any flower or scroll/flourish fine. Idea is to have flower be in a circle part of the scroll. I like the simple coral and blue colours alot. At last minute I stamped out mini flowers and used silver brad in center to liven up card. You could also stamp, use stickers or rhinestones.
Card #7: Easy All Occassions Card
This did not photograph well- it is actually quite stunning. The black flower petals are embossed with swiss dot and it looks great. The card because of colour is good for both men and women and could be used for several different occasions. Would make a good Thank-you card, Birthday card, Best Wishes or Thinking of you card for almost anyone. Use a stamp or rub on for your sentiment.
I stamped flowers in border using lettuce color embossing powder ( ranger embossing powder). I would have loved to have done in hot pink or orange as well. The flower was with Quickutz die, and is probably my favorite die. I used Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder to emboss the paper before I cut out the flower.
Card #8: Easy-ish Quilled Ballet Birthday Card: Quilled Ballet Tutu card
I actually made this in a hurry for my niece’s birthday. I love the colours and the cute quilled ballet tutu If you have not tired quilling ti is very easy and can be mastered pretty quickly- at least some of the simpler designs!
I used a corner cutter on paper corners, rhinestones and Basic Grey paper scraps to make this card. I did make some matching quilled shoes but that met a horrible end when my son took a look at them while drying. I used some die cut flowers from Quickutz.
This card is FABULOUS! Perfect card for little girl and you can get quite funky with colors. A soft pastel pink and white motif would also be so pretty. I also could see going over the top with pearls and lace as well., but I had to stick to plan of only using scraps and what I had on hand!
Easy Card #9 : Basic Grey Lily Kate Mia Thank-You Card
Used some scraps from one of my all time favorite papers from Basic Grey’s Lily Kate line, called Mia. I love lime anything and the purples and blues in this are gorgeous.
A simple card where i cut out some shapes with the paper, used a bit of ink adn some Dimensional Pearls Lettuce color. Easy as pie and a cute card. Used some clear letter stamps for the Thank-You.
Easy Card to make With Scraps #10: Make Card Using Ribbon As Stem
A cute card that uses ribbon as “stem” for flower. More from Inque Boutique stamps and dollar store ribbon than I made into stamp with bow as “leaves”. ripped up some of my scraps from 6×6 Sultry Basic Grey paper pack. These sure so go far! You can use any largish geometric shape or flower for flower hard and use a co-ordinating ribbon.
I left empty space because I am actually a fan of “white space” but a sentiment using a copper ink or emboss powder would look good. I think even light opaque pink or light colour would also work well.
