I know it must be sacrilege for a “crafty” stamper/scrapbooker to actually be looking at buying wedding invitations! It looks like my sister is getting married in the Fall and she is wants to buy them. She knows they are a lot of work and would rather buy them (gulp). I remember having quite a bit of fun looking for and picking out my own wedding invitations- many years ago
we have been looking together- trying to find ones that are not too traditional- a little quirky is good- and ones that will reflect the beautiful colours of fall. Finding orange wedding invitations a bit of a challenge!
I am partial to these ones from 1st Class Wedding Invitations .
This is what it looks like:
It is a modern look with dark born and sage accents- so earthy tones and still quite elegant looking. Things have sure changed since I got married! I had multiple visits with printer and proofreading, etc. You can now totally customize your wedding invitation online- change font, wording, size of font, etc. prices have come down a lot or this site is a an exceptional value. I have been having quite a bit of fun playing with tools and changing design around.. picking out what card to go with what on 1st Class Wedding Invitations. It brings back some great memories for me- and also makes me think that the next time I do this it may be for my daughters wedding!
Help! I am struggling trying to find a decent tape runner. I LOVED the old tape runner from Creative memories. The one I am talking about is not refillable- they discontinued it and replaced it about 4 years ago. I was a consultant then and bought a whole case of them I have run out an been using the newer refillable… which i hate.
The refillable one from CM is awful. I have to fiddle and fix it about every 10 minutes and slows me down. I HATE it!
I have been trying out other options and found a few that I like. Feel free to make suggestions.
One of the surprising things about losing weight- I have lost 40 pounds since last September- has been looking at the emotional weight and baggage I have been carrying around. When you start to lose weight you gain confidence and look at yourself differently. You are empowered.
I am not a spiritual person but I think we are interconnected to everything by our molecules and atoms and energy, this is about as spiritual as I get
I have been looking at different ways of thinking and feeling better about myself. One popular fad or trend is “The Sedona Method“. I have been seeing it talked about on other blogs and forums.
It is very similar to “The Secret made popular on Oprah Winfrey show and many think it is THE key to happiness and well-being.
The Sedona Method is described and taught in the book, “Happy For No Reason” .
Here is an excerpt:
In Borneo, the natives have an ingenious technique for capturing the wild monkeys that raid their crops and stores of food. They take an empty coconut shell and make a small hole in it, just large enough for a monkey’s hand. They put some rice into the coconut for bait and tie the coconut down to the ground. The thieving monkey, smelling the food, comes to investigate. He sticks his hand inside the coconut to grab the rice, but when he tries to pull his hand out, because it’s clasped in a fist around the rice, it won’t fit through the hole anymore. To escape, the monkey must let go of the rice. Because they won’t let go, the monkeys of Borneo remain trapped!
A lot of us are like those monkeys: trapped by our negative thoughts because we just won’t let go of them. And the more we resist them, the more they stick around. It doesn’t help to try pushing them away—they’ll just keep coming back.
Another way to address our troubling thoughts is to go beyond our minds and connect with the feelings associated with the negative thoughts. It’s the feeling that keeps the thought glued to the mind. When we welcome the feeling, accept it and then let it go, the thought will quite miraculously dissolve. An effective way to do this is through a simple, yet powerful, technique called the Sedona Method.
The concept of the Sedona Method, briefly put is accepting and even welcoming negative thoughts and feeling and then letting them go. Constantly trying to void and battle them leads to unpleasantness and stress- welcoming and letting go leads to happiness.
This idea is similar to one I have tried to follow and related more to fear. Fear can be the root of almost our anxiety- fear of what may happen, fear of what is happened, how we feel, etc. “Honouring” the fear and accepting it rather than running away can only lead to more fears and more anxiety.
I doubt that one book or one concept can change your whole life- but part of being alive is constantly looking to make yourself a better person- and ideas and books like this may be a stepping stone on part of that journey.

I take mine and sew felt on the back- leaving a little hole and stuffing with poly filling to give it some weight and dimension.
If you are looking rfo some Valentine’s ideas - either to buy some craft supplies, making your own gifts or buying things to pop into a gift basket for your sweetheart or kids you can get some good deals with coupon codes at sites like CouponChief.com.
They have quite a few Overstock.com coupons including coupons for 1.00 shipping, 15.00 off order of 200.00, 5.00 off 200.00. Overstock.com had a nice Beginner Quilling Kit for about 30.00 that was well worth it just for paper, it also had quilling needles and a pattern book. Quill work is especially nice on a Valentine’s card.
if you have a Target addiction- like I do- they have tons of Target coupons: 5.00 off 50.00. free shipping, coupons for storage items and lots of others. Craft people can never have enough bins!
They have a nice selection of baskets if you are making your own gift baskets and although they have limited inventory of scrapbooks and stamping supplies- their prices are very good.
If you find a craft . stamping or scrapbooking deal- please share!
I have been doing quite a bit of surfing over the holidays with my kids and they have become addicted to user-generated videos.
Some of the video sites are more interactive than others- and one of them, YawpBox is particularly good. There are all kinds of “challenges” for viewers- like “Re-enact a movie scene or show” and “Make a commercial” I got one of my kids a web cam for Christmas and she has been QUITE inventive with her linted video making ability and I have about 5 gigs of video to upload- she gets quite a thrill thinking such a large audience might actually see her work! The ‘act” of making her video is quite creative and then to be able to share with others id a plus- the two combined are a great self-esteem booster. As always- check videos your kids want upload for any personal info- even a first name is too much in my opinion.
There is a fun feature sponsored by the Lex & Terry radio show. every week they offer a challenge for viewers and listeners to come up with something new to upload. The site is quite a bit of fun an well worth the look.
I have some more to add- sorry for the short post.
If you know of some patterns or have a quilling site with free patterns- let me know and I will post. Just comment
